Fine Arts

Students in our fine arts program gain a deeper appreciation for music while developing self-discipline, increasing coordination, and utilizing both sides of their brain.  Research has even shown a connection between the study of music and an increased understanding in the areas of math and science. Atonement students can put their God-given musical gifts to use by participating in band, choir, piano, guitar or voice lessons.

Band

Students in grades 5–8 may receive individualized instrumental music instruction through our partnership with Wisconsin Lutheran High School.  Band lessons are given once per week at Atonement by a WLHS band director during regular school hours. The grade school band also meets one evening each week at WLHS to rehearse together and performs in several concerts and events during the school year. All registrations and scheduling information for the WLHS grade school band can be found on their webpage.

Jubilation Choir

Get involved musically by using your voice to praise God!  Our Jublilation Choir meets weekly and is directed by Mr. Kevin Poston. Students in grades 4–8 are invited to join the Jubilation Choir. Choir members perform at special worship services and more.

Piano, Guitar and Voice Lessons

piano

Music lessons are available to students in grades 3–8.  Piano lessons are given by Dr. Kayme Henkel – a nationally certified teacher of music and independently contracted piano teacher, as well as musician in the Milwaukee area. Guitar and voice lessons are taught by Mrs. Laura Gottschalk.  Students receive a private, 30-minute lesson once per week during the school day at a cost of $20 per month or $75 per semester. Music books and fees for any festival participation are additional.  For more information regarding music lessons, click on the registration link below.
